Game 4 - CN LL vs Continental Flagstaff

Chandler played as the visiting team in Game 4 vs. Continental-Flagstaff. Chandler got the scoring started quickly in the top of the first. Crash reached first on an error by the shortstop. Crash advanced to third on a couple pass balls, then scored on a RBI single by Huck. All three outs in the inning were strikeouts for Chandler, but scored one. Chandler took the field in the first with Spaz on the mound. Flagstaff put two runners on quickly with a single and a error, before Spaz settled in the strike out two. Flagstaff had two runners in scoring position when the 5 hitter lined out to Bugs at second.

Bugs, J Dub, and Brando were due up in the second. However, Chandler's offense was subdued by 2 strikeouts and a groundball to the pitcher. Chandler was back in the field. Spaz gave up a leadoff walk, but the got the first out at second on a fielder's choice. The Flagstaff runner advance to second on a pass ball. The next batter hit a grounder to Crash at short and was put out, but Huck then tried to get the advancing runner out at third. The throw went wide and the runner scored. The inning ended with Chandler still up 2-1.

Chandler fell again 1-2-3 in the third with a ground out and two strikeouts. Chandler overcame a leadoff hit and error in left and a single to strand 2 Flagstaff runners on base after a strikeout and putouts 5-4 and 6-3. Score still Chandler 2 1.

Chandler's offensive troubles continued into the 4th going 1-2-3 for the 3rd straight inning, but this time Chandler's defense answered with 1-2-3 inning of their own in the bottom of the 4th.

Chandler threatened briefly in the 5th getting the first two batters aboard. Po was hit by a pitch and J Dub reached on an error. Bugs was placed as a special pinch runner for Po. Unfortunately, both runners were stranded after 3 consecutive strikeouts. The 5th ended with the score still 2-1 and Chandler's offense stalling with 11 strikeouts. Spaz was back on the mound with 71 pitches for the 5th. A lead off single led to the first out on the 5-4 fielders choice. Then Spaz struck out the 4 and 5 hitters from Flag keeping Chandler at a 2-1 advantage.

Finally in the sixth the offense got back on track, Turbo reached on an error at second. Then Monk, as Mom calls him, hit a 2-run HR to extend the lead to 3. After a couple outs, Po got Chandler back on the bases with a single and then scored (Doc as SPR) on a double by J Dub. Flagstaff made a pitching change, and they got Brando to pop up to right to end the scoring. Chandler plated 3 in the inning and extended their lead to 5-1.

Pause.....Have a drink

In the bottom of the sixth, Flagstaff found themselves chasin' 4. Chandler brought in Special K to pitch. Chandler got off to a good start with striking out the lead off batter, but a subsequent walk and a infield error landed two runners on for Continental. Special K settled in to strikeout the next batter. Now there are two down. Flagstaff now had two on and their top of the line up coming up, and they took advantage. The top of the lineup hit a single scoring two that were off and running on contact with two outs. The score is now 5-3. The 2 spot followed with a single, then the big blow. The cleanup hitter for Flagstaff did just that, hitting a 3 run homerun to give the walk off win to Flagstaff.

With the loss, Chandler moves to 3-1 in Pool play with 2 to go.
